Does anyone have experience interviewing with Deloitte Internal Services? I had my final interview a week and a half ago, and received positive feedback throughout. The hiring manager had positive things to say and mentioned they hoped to make a decision by the end of last week. It’s now Friday the week after. The role still shows as “Interviews in Process.” We did discuss potential start dates, but no salary. Any experience with receiving offers for an internal services role? Is this common?

A good account person fights for every single minute you and the team need to deliver your work, keep your clients from questioning which drugs your creative team were on when they presented the 20 shitty ideas before the really good one, negotiates the budget to be big enough that every person on the correctly-sized team makes what they're supposed to make, and acts as the leader and captain of the team inwardly and outwardly, without getting in the way of anyone who's trying to do great work.
Bad account people don't do any of that, and they should get the F off your project.
Typically the account person would be handling client communication and the overall client relationship. If they aren't doing that, I would assume their main role would be as salespeople selling in additional work or phases of a project.
In the absence of THAT, I would say their main role is to be a nice fat stick in the creative team's spokes.
Probably because the account team can't be bothered to inform themselves enough to speak intelligently to their clients, so they cut out the middle man. Happened on my last team and previous agency. I'm better with clients than my AMs
I don't get the purpose of account in general
Also, a PM/producer (and those are usually my right hand on a team), is fundamentally responsible for the project delivery and best way to execute it and scope it, from an internal agency team perspective. Account is fundamentally responsible for the ACCOUNT and the client relationship, which includes knowing the client business, internal structure, competitors, and industry. Educating internal team on all those and representating the client and their POV/interest internally, as well as the agency's externally. It's a constant and never ending straddling of both and requires wide ranging business acumen and general leadership skills, soft skills, and so on, and so forth. They should also be aware of all process and procedure on client's side and agency side, inform guide and manage team decision making. Gather information, consult others, and consider multiple POVs to arrive at best decision, weigh in risk/reward in various circumstances.

Why is the producer handling most of the client correspondence?
Sr visual designer, usually people who don't know what other people's job is or have a very limited, partial understanding of its scope, think those people's jobs are unnecessary. I understand you may be ignorant of the job or have never worked with a good account person, but consider all the times somebody has said they can do what you do or can just take an online course for it. Be aware you don't know what you don't know before making mental statements about anything really.
There are some projects where you don't need account.
@SVP. So do producers. We do all of that.
@SP1 Some of the best, smartest people on my teams are producers/pm's. Some aren't. I don't thus think the discipline is unnecessary just because some need improvement. It's always the people in the role, not the role.
