What to do when you put your salary expectation at the beginning of a recruiting process too low? I put my lowest salary expectation for which I would even consider the position, and now I feel like it’s going to be difficult to negotiate a higher salary once I get the offer...(I put down an amount which is 15% lower than my current, thinking of moving from C3 at top 10 consulting firm to a really small digital agency focused on product consulting/design and dev). So I had a call with a with a recruiter two weeks ago and she asked for my salary range and I told her $120k-$150k she said she would submit me me at $140-$150 well the role was put on hold due to an acquisition. I have two job offers from start-up companies:

Option 1 - well known fintech company and about to go IPO. Will be doing corporate tax. Probably will turn into hybrid of WFH/coming into the office.

Option 2 - series A (been around about 3 years). Tax operation with high possibility of being exposed to other areas in accounting and finance of the company. Fully remote.

Compensation from both companies are the same. I would appreciate some advice on which option would you choose and why.

Fishys, I think I found a hustle. Wife and I combined would get $0 back as a Recovery Rebate Credit. We received $4,800 originally (2 kids). If I file her as separate and put both kids on her return can I claim $1,800 as RRC since IRS treated our official stimmy as individual amounts? Letters 6475 say $2,400 for each of us.

Im in niche practice area at Big4 (2 YOE)x of which law firms have the practice group. I’m in my late 20s, no kids, not married, significant student debt. The WLB I’ve had is fantastic, and most of my friends are miserable in BigLaw. But obviously the money coming with a lateral opportunity is staring at me, and given my student debt and no family of my own, perhaps it’s worth.
