The question you need to ask yourself is if the experience is enough to where your not entry level/ college hire anymore? Plenty of college graduates have internships or relevant experience or some work experience in their field. In most cases it would make you more appealing to a potential employer but would not justify more pay compared to their peers who are also graduating. Honestly at least for larger companies/ firms college graduates pay is normally pretty established and large companies are very rarely going to negotiate individually with every new graduate that are filling entry level positions.
New college graduates are having a hard time right now getting any offers. Take what you can get to build up your resume, and if you don’t like it, job hop for better in a year or so. Getting good resume building experience is much more important than money when you start your career.
You will have to show your value in being able to get in and hit the ground running. Definitely aim for above the bottom salary, but be open to anything. This market is just not favorable for employees. Companies hold the power. Are you getting offers? See how those are looking first.
Your network (former classmates/professors) will help you in this area. Don't let them go.
I've been out (of school) for 2 years and have not found something that works. (I'm in a job I've had for years but not in my field.) So when I apply, I have to simply understand that I'll have to (for now) take the lowest until I can build myself up. They are looking for experience now and the 2 years will help you, but some want more. (You definitely should receive just above the average.) Hopefully your relevant skills are what they want to get you to start right off the bat. Good luck.
