What is your biggest concern for this upcoming school year for your classroom in this COVID climate?

I’m using Readworks and question sets in google classroom, but I haven’t been able to open my students submitted question set. I’m getting an error message when I click the assignments folder

I am looking for high-interest, culturally-relevant novels that are of literary value and appropriate for the classroom.

Do you think your building or classroom is ready to go back to school?

Maybe stirring the pot, but the unvaccinated are very comfortable posting confidentially, despite being around other people’s children who may be too young to vaccinate. I’m just curious, are any of you comfortable and confident enough to let the adults of your students know if you’re not vaccinated?

Are you required to come into your building? I'm teaching vitrtually, but 2 days a week I'm required to come into my classroom.

With school starting up again and Covid cases surging, how is your school handling it? Are you starting remote or in-person? Are teachers in your school calling out sick in large numbers? Are you nervous about going back? Do you feel supported? What are your concerns with Covid as you step back into the classroom?

Hello! For those of you that teach a self-contained classroom, what is your class size? How many paraprofessional do you have? Our self contained rooms seem to be STUFFED.

Administration doesn’t realize that their disorganization trickledown to the classroom.

I have taught at 5 different schools yet only Henrico Co PS place a moderate value on Behavior intervention as a means of response to disruptive behavior, creating rapport , restorative circles and trauma informed care. Suspensions are not a long term deterrent to violence, bullying and resolving our children’s mental health issue. Are your school systems supporting consistent and prompt intervention policies?

My daughter just attended a new teacher workshop at a ROE. A Superintendent presented (not hers) and told this room full of new teachers, “Real teachers get to school at 7:00 am and go home at 8:00 pm.” Really?? As a veteran teacher of 26 years, I was appalled! Makes sense why new teachers are leaving the classroom in their first five years and why we have a teacher shortage in Illinois with those type of expectations.

I work in an internal ops role in consulting, I started a a week ago while also being accepted into a top exec mba program starting in the fall. I plan on doing it and funding it myself but will need to have 2 weeks this year and 2 weeks early 2023 for travel and classroom weeks. When would you ask/tell the manager about this and if they would be supportive?

Question about inclusion…. I’ve been teaching inclusion for 5 years so I’m still a newb, but a first year coworker of mine said she got points off on her observation because her kids were scattered in the classroom and she was having to move from kid to kid to assist. While I see the point of putting them together for convenience, I don’t agree with this at all! To me this is like singling them out by putting them all together instead of INCLUDED amongst peers. What do y’all think?

Many teachers have said that they are burned-out. Can you please be specific about what is burning you out? For me, it’s students who are constantly unwilling to do any work.
