This happens a lot on family companies. At a past experience most executive or Senior management positions where filled with family members, so it was very difficult to develop or the progress was limited.
Wow! That had to be a hard bullet to bite because what about promotions?
It's just part of life. It never did me any good, as no one in my family was in a position to help me any. But a lot of people get a boost because they're connected, and it's always going to be that way. Some of the people who benefit from nepotism are perfectly competent, and some, well, not so much.
I get that. I didn’t think about it like that actually. I always thought about it negatively.
I’d do exactly the same if I wasn’t in the position. Why would a parent not help their kid get ahead.
I get that! Thanks!
It's so bad at the FC. Almost like a high school life of best in kissing asses move up while tbe hardest workers are stuck. A former supervisor interviewed her own roommate and a TL interviewed her mother and aunt and of course, only the trio were offered the roles out of 6 applicants.Only Asians and white people move up
That’s so sickening! Sorry to hear that!
I mean obviously I am not happy about it but it happens everywhere you go. I worked for the federal government and you would think it wouldn't happen there but it sure did. Doesn't really seem to matter.
Wow it even goes as far as the government? Man the system is crooked!
I think that there should be at least some limitations put in place to prevent too much nepotism from shaping an entire company, but I also think it's sort of one of those things that can't be totally regulated. I feel like it's a bummer but the entire workforce feels like it's a "who you know" kind of situation. So it's not like it's that different if people hire family members vs. friends.
I totally agree 100% with you! You can’t have your whole family in the same department!
Its unavoidable. So adjust your career accordingly.
Doesnt always work. Imagine having your friend around to talk to. Would h get any work done? And is your grandmorher u brought in gonna keep up with the veterens?
