Utilization don’t worry about it.
BUT they clearly take this into consideration when they decide to promote you, raise %, and bonus %. I know many people, including myself, who got robbed from promotion, higher raise and / or bonus, just because we took the parental leave.

I have seen so many cases where people were ready to be promoted (SC to M, M to SM, SM to PPMD) but gone 4 months (or longer) out of the year, which clearly played a role in them not getting promoted. Elephant in the room!
Not sure how your firm calculates utilization but in my case it’s just like vacation in that it doesn’t impact utilization. So no impact.
