I married an awesome guy at 24 while working through the big 4 PA grind and spending most of my paycheck on my downtown apartment. What I didn’t spend on rent, I spent on adderall to keep me going. I developed a serious addiction and alcoholism alongside that which ultimately led to be being fired at 26 and $40K in debt. We moved back to my hometown, Covid hit and I got fired a few more times before finally getting sober at 28. Despite my many, MANY failures and by the grace of god, my husband forgave me and we rebuilt our marriage. I am 31 now and debt free, have a wonderful job, marriage is great, and we are expecting our first baby in June. We are hoping to buy our first house in the next few months. If you’re in a dark place, ask for help and fight for yourself. Change is possible.
You powered through all that? You go girl
I’ve got no promotions, make less than 6 figures, am married and have a house (could only afford the wedding and house because of my husbands nice cushy IT income)
I had just graduated grad school (took a long path educationally), started a job at B4 in a city I loathed, and was single AF. Now I’m in my mid 30s and have turned all that around.
Hit rock bottom, was in an abusive relationship, working 80+hours a week, barely saving anything for retirement. Turned all that around in my late 20s and now I'm happy - great job, family, home, hobbies, and lots of savings.
Had just finished grad school and started at a big 4 in nyc. I lived like it was finally my time to shine lol. And then covid happened, I cut off all situationships, applied for my cpa license, invested heavily, worked out every day. Called friends and family often. Read a lot.
Now reaping the rewards of what I sowed from those couple of years. Blessed with promotions and my engagement.
I was balancing a lot... working full-time as a staff accountant, finishing my MBA, and trying to have a social life. I wasn’t married yet, but I did splurge on a new car and felt like I was starting to hit some major milestones.
