Package from Europe to the US around 10k relocation (apartment+moving company) + flight ticket
It’s not the dollar amount so much as the services you need. Visas for you and your family. White glove packing and moving service for your possessions. A month in a short term rental or a hotel. Real estate brokers fee. Apartment deposit (refundable.) And finally a small amount to cover essential new purchases. Your British hair dryer and vacuum and kitchen appliances and TV won’t work on American currents. The underlying principle is that you shouldn’t be paying to move.
This is good advice!
I got around 15k for one. Flight, corporate housing, and moving. Not counting visa.
If NYC then at least $10k (possibly more) grossed up to include taxes. If you or renting or buying in NYC the fees you pay to brokers will be a big part of that. If renting in city the standard is 1 month rent - 15% annual rent to pay broker + first month and last month rent as security upfront.
Depends on the city. For London to NYC I would double the figure of your London salary and stick a dollar sign infront of it to maintain an equivalent standard of living. So if you earn £60k I’d ask for $120k.
Sorry, I meant how much should I be asking for from the agency. But any thoughts on salary is great as well.
thanks!
Oh sorry I misread the question. I’d ask for $5k relocation and I’d ask for it grossed up so that it doesn’t include the tax.
That was just for me though. If I was relocating a family of 4 I’d triple it.
So for two about $10k sounds about right, with taxes to be taken out.
I got 10K for two of us from NY to LA. You’ll need to factor in visa costs and all the other bells and whistles that come with a move. 5K is too low.
