W union square. I agree the w Lexington is the absolute worst. W downtown is dead after 6p
Le Parker M, W Lexington, W union square, any design hotel (so trendy omg)
NYC is a great place to switch to Marriott. So many great hotels there.
St. Regis is solid

+1 W Union Square. Easy to get anywhere and central to all night life
I like the Sheraton TriBeCa. It is maybe 1/3 the size of the Sheraton Times Square. It is easily walkable to Soho. The rooftop Club Lounge has a fabulous unobstructed view all the way to Midown, with a really nice spacious deck. Check it out!
Westin at Grand Central is great. Really easy to get anywhere.

W Lexington is kinda trashy. St Regis is incredible. Chateau and Meridian aren't bad either.
