Every drug ad I hear on TV says the same thing -- it's good for what ails you, but it can kill you. I hope the doctors know more about these various drugs and just what level of risk they pose before they go prescribing them willy-nilly just because a patient "asks their doctor about XYZ." If I could wave a magic wand, I would prohibit advertising of prescription medications. That kind of information should be handled by trained professionals who know what the drug does and whether it is a good fit for their patient's condition.

It’s unbelievably so scary!
I'm torn here. On the one hand, it's great that people are getting their obesity under control. On the other, the cancer risk is very concerning. I guess I think it's probably still a net positive, but I wish people didn't have to rely on something like this for weight loss.

Me too! I’m so tempted myself to get my weight under control after my second baby but I could not live with myself if I then got a dx like that !! When I very well knew it could happen … how selfish!! I’m also very torn with this whole thing.
I really wanted Ozempic to be the miracle drug and was hopeful that it might finally be just that. A few friends of mine jumped on the bandwagon immediately and did lose large amounts of weight. Unfortunately, that was before we knew of all the side effects which are concerning. I asked my doctor if I would be a good candidate and she basically kicked me out of the office. She does not believe in prescribing it to her patients which actually says a lot. I'm going to refrain until we have more info.

It’s scary ! I have friends (nurses yet) taking it no worries in the world to me that is irresponsible! Especially with being mothers and wives ! The label warnings should be enough to say no.
