I don't think that most employers care about the mental health of their employees are much as they should. We are stressed out and overworked. There should be mandatory mental evaluation sessions quarterly.

Respectfully, I suggest asking your Benefits team to check with your EAP vendor on utilization of the EAP benefit. It is free to all employees and their families, yet it is often underutilized. For my population of near 2000 people, our EAP was used 30 times last year by employees and dependents. We share information about the benefit during OE, include it in the Benefits Guidebook, feature it in the newsletter, and even have an annual training course that educates everyone on Mental Health and how our EAP can assist.
From my experience, the gap in mental healthcare often stems from a stigma of feeling shamed for wanting/needing help. That is a cultural challenge we need to solve. We need to find a way to help people believe that just because they want/need help it does not mean they are broken. It just means they need an assist. We all do, from time to time.
You’re not wrong in that people need help and resources should be available. Just need to find ways to encourage people to engage with the resources without feeling anything negative.

What concerns me most is the gap in using Preventive Care services. While prevention does not guarantee someone will avoid all major health risks, it can help people detect problems early and begin taking care of them while they still have time. It is downright terrifying to see preventive care compliance data during our annual reviews with our insurance carriers.
Primary care providers are overwhelmed. It can take me 6-8 months to get into an annual well visit, and if anyone is sick (like the provider) it's not uncommon to get it pushed out again. This could explain why you see people getting less than annual visits.
Cancer coverage and life insurance. Would be nice to find unemployment insurance so if anything does happen you still get 100% of your salary.
But yeah, to your point, I’ve seen the conversion rates. That’s exactly why I wish more companies offer higher options. Much more affordable and provides better financial safety nets for younger people in the workforce and their families.
