In NA, You have basically all medical expenses covered (100% in network coverage with a $100 deductible for like 10 dollars a month), an employer contribution to retirement of 10-20k with no match required that vests immediately, 20 days PTO, comp that starts at a base of 80-85/150 for undergrad/MBA respectively, an annual bonus of 10-30%, a signing bonus of around 15-20% of base, and annual raises in the 10-15% range
Except our healthcare is free and deductibles are $5
^ FWIW BCG and Bain have similar packages
Holy shit
Did not expect such an informative response tbh. The retirement contribution with no match is my favorite perk — if everyone agrees that it makes good financial sense and your firm can afford it, why not just make it part of every package like McK?
😶
Bain pays 80% of healthcare premiums, employees pay the remainder (amounts to $2k/yr out of pocket for a consultant). Retirement contribution ranges from 4.5% of salary for new start to 7.0% with 6+ yrs tenure, no match required and immediate vesting. 15 days PTO to start, 20 after a few years. Base + bonus levels are matched to McK. Bain also has a separate profit sharing plan (in NA) which typically amounts to ~50% of annual bonus but only vests after three years as an analyst/consultant. For those who stick around to collect it, all in comp/benefits will likely be a bit higher than McK or BCG despite the stingier health and retirement benefits.
@M1 thank you! So helpful. Is it true that comp can’t be negotiated at the offer stage because of “one firm policy”? I’ve heard that but what’s this policy?
BCG has 5% of salary profit sharing from year 1, and once you’re a PL it’s 10%
For the record McKs retirement comp used to be 12% up to 20k but for new hires is now 7.5%, with the 20k cap still in effect. Profit sharing does not start until associate partner (senior manager) level
For campus hires, pay is not negotiable...less true for experienced hires, but there are set bands by role
@McK1 Is 105k base, NYC, 3 years out of school good? Should I negotiate?
@McK1 no MBA I should mention
What’s the role?
