Hi everyone,
I have a total 9+ work ex in Devops and Release Management. Did an executive mba with a goal of breaking into Program management but got recruited into Management Consulting . In this company for the past 3 months.
I feel that my overall skills are better off in a TPM/Program Management role.
My overall experience makes me eligible for most PM roles.
My question is how do I prep for a TPM role since I don’t have development or Scrum Master exposure. Amazon India VMware BrowserStack Inc.

Run.
Look up "imposter syndrome" and understand that you will get it. Do this so that you might recognize it and be prepared to deal with it.
Ask all the questions. No assumptions, ask all the questions. The genuine and the obvious ones too. You will learn so much.
Also try to remember it's just a job.
Good luck !

Don’t engage with people who just sit around talking $h!t. Dont stress about anything. All the Parter cares about is the PowerPoint.
C2’s second post is good advice. First one is more negative than reality in my view.
I would add some simple advice as well - be engaged and own your plan/path, be a positive influence on any team you join, have a can do attitude (you are expected to know everything but you are expected to be a good problem solver), offer others some support when you have down time, be self reflective and welcome feedback, and be transparent but NEVER EVER create drama.
Free advice, you get what you pay for;)
Live in a major city in the central TZ. Chicago if you like snow and crime, Dallas if you like heat and tornadoes. You will thank me on travel days.
And traffic and more traffic.
Think proactively about next steps for every piece of work you’re given. Have those ready to rattle off when you turn your deliverable back over to your manager, and show you’re thinking about the work in the context of the project and the work others on your team are doing. Keep tabs on what is going on outside your workstream so you can pick up work or get thrown in as needed (it will happen during a fire drill!). Accept that a lot of the feedback you’ll be given will feel nit picky and annoying — but trust me, a few years in and a few analysts trained, it’s definitely necessary, and your manager is trying to train you up to be self sufficient. Accept that you will probably feel like you’re in WAY over your head, and be thrown into situations with zero context — dealing with ambiguity and excelling amidst confusion are the most important skills you’ll learn here.
Well put C3, would love to be on your team
Watch and learn game of thrones. It's not fiction where you're going
It will ruin your human relationships and eat you up and spit out your soul. Consider industry after a year or two. 🧛🏿♀️
Also it’s okay to say no! I’ve said no more in my career than yes and I’m happy and still employed. Don’t ever let anyone make you feel like you “HAVE” to do something. The more people that like you the better but be authentic. Don’t compromise who you are personally to become someone else professionally. Always follow your gut and don’t follow the money.
Let's change this to know when you should say no, and explain why you're not able to do it. Learn to prioritize your tasks and ask why you're doing what you're doing, so you have the context behind it.
It's a trap !!!!
BTY, disappointing to see so many consultants who seem to dislike their industry/job
