The Four Seasons is also a good location.
If on vacation stay at any hotel in front the bosphorous... Jw Marriott, Novotel or Shangri-La
The Novotel has construction going on in front of it blocking some of the views to the river.

Taksim Square - I loved the Grand Hyatt there but there are lots of choices. Still close to the main tourist sites but a bit more city/local feeling
JW Marriott Istanbul is one of my favorite hotels worldwide, and amazing location
Found the Novotel next door dinner to be worth every Lira!
I loved the Asia side. It’s cozier and feels more neighborhoody. I did 4 nights in Europe and 3 nights in Asia and that was perfect for me. Super easy to get to either side but staying there and witnessing the night life in both sides was great. I stayed at hostels bc I was dirt poor when I visited so no area recs but enjoy!!
If you're looking for a hostel (not for everyone, I get it) the Cheers Lighthouse Hostel in Sultanahmet is awesome
