Oh heads up - I would avoid going in January because LP is hosting international collegiate games so it’s gonna be paaaccckkkeeddd. I usually go up there in February.

i love whiteface and lake placid is so cute. i’m on ikon now so won’t be going, but I really like it and think its worth the trek
I think Killington is more fun for about the same trek
whiteface is a bold name

IDK either....let's go check it out together
Depends on the weather. It's known as iceface for a reason.
Town is nice.
Lift tickets are well priced if you didn't buy epic or icon.
Depends on what else you're considering. IMO, just go to VT. Or if you want a day trip, Hunter.
Epic pass, epic lines.
I don't like the layout of Hunter. The mid mountain pinch point that is a skied out accident zone.
Haven’t been skiing in Lake Placid but it was stunning in leaf season at the start of fall. Cute town but book somewhere for dinner or eat early before 6, it gets busy and packed in town.
Killington is good for skiing but gets busy during peak ski season
Thanks, all - I’m toying with the idea of buying a house near The Ausable Club, which is only open during summer, and wanted to understand if having LP nearby was additive enough to make the house a compelling year-round proposition.
It seems like the answer is, kind of… maybe it won’t be Aspen caliber skiing, but probably would be good enough for a holiday weekend with friends where we ski a day and hang out at the house for a day or two.
It's fun east coast skiing.
I've enjoyed every trip. The old Olympic facilities also mean bobsled, ice skating ski jumping (if you dare) and more.
