Honestly, drinking with an notepad or tasting book.
I started a wine subscription. They send notecards for each wine and weekly newsletter about wine knowledge. Learned a lot through that
Go to wine tastings.

Thanks for stopping by and posting! I know relatively little about wine, but I do know more than I once knew. I often just try to talk to sommelier at restaurants in addition to the local wine experts at liquor stores.
Also try to look up the wines that I drink to find the taste profiles of the wines that I like. Since I started doing that, I've really been able to explore the wines that I like, so it doesn't feel so much like I'm taking shots in the dark. There's an app called Vivino that has a label scanner that will allow you to quickly find the profile of the wine.
There's also classes offered at some wine stores, such as Total Wines. Highly recommend those as well.
Wine tastings are great! I also had the pleasure of living in France so I had a lot of wine, and some of my colleagues had friends who owns wineries so I would tag along to dinner parties and learn
Also if you ever get the chance to go to Napa, Go! You won’t regret it
Go to wine tastings and check out the color, opacity, and viscosity. Take note of the legs (swirl the wine in the glass and notice how the wine falls down the inside of the glass), higher alcohol content wine will have a higher density of wine with the legs and will have more legs. Take note of the color that you are seeing. Taste the wine but never go off your first taste, it’s a lie. Rather go with your third taste and take notes on what you’re tasting, are you tasting fruits and if so what fruits are you tasting, are you tasting some sort of plant (a grassy taste for example) or maybe even something like licorice. What is your nose telling you? What fruits are you smelling? Maybe you’re getting a hint of roasted nuts, vanilla, tobacco, coconut, leather, baking spices, autumn leaves, or cedar? Ask questions about the wine. Remember that your taste is your taste and not everyone is going to taste it the same.
Be open-minded. Guided wine tastings (in different cities and countries), wine classes, and an educational wine subscription box where you learn as you go! Learning never stops and that’s the best part IMO. When I go to new restaurants, I also ask about their wine selections.

For beginners, YouTube channels like wineking and Konstantin baum are very good resources. Anything that really piques your interest you can find online from there
