In strategy the runway is 1-5. 5th you must be promoted or out. You will start as 2. It means for you more likely 3 years to MD. But you have 4 runway. In strategy a year tenure means something because they are fixed on bands aligning with years. Your salary is also bumped up as a result. It’s a fixed number you can find by some FB searching.

3 or 4 years
Thanks P1 - makes sense intuitively just wasn’t sure how much is followed/ implemented in practice. And it sounds like it does mean something..
Also, In your experience with the firm (assuming you’re still with ACN Strategy) - what are some of the practical success factors at SM (2) level? Looking for firm specific pointers here. General performance indicators (like strong sales, assured delivery etc.) are expected as per industry norms. And what can one expect from the firm in terms of helping lateral/ experienced hires to settle in and set up for success?
Any thoughts much appreciated. Thank you. 🙏

The group that you join will be the key. You need to work closely with those MDs and develop 1-2 MD champions who you work with regularly and will mentor and support you. To go from SM to MD you will need to develop your expertise/platform and be known for it beyond your immediate group. A 2 year promo is technically possible just difficult because you need the time to build support. Accenture sales targets are hard targets for MDs, but soft targets for SMs so much more important to be working with the right MDs to help them on BD and then delivering the sold work full cycle. The culture is more supportive than some of the B4. Best of luck!
Thanks P1 - much appreciated.
Thanks P1. I’m being told that they’re bringing me in at “SM+1 yr tenure”. Does that mean much/ anything or is it simply a notional level they’re selling at the moment? Any thoughts on comp ranges at these levels would be most helpful.
