I’ve definitely been in interviews where it felt like the interviewer had a chip on their shoulder about my last company, and it’s such a weird position to be in. It’s tough, because you want to stand up for yourself but also don’t want to risk the opportunity. Usually, I try to keep it positive and steer the conversation back to what I learned and how I’m ready for something new, just like you did. Sometimes those comments are just the interviewer’s bias showing, and it’s more about them than you. If you get the job, hopefully their attitude won’t carry over, but if it does, at least you’ll know it’s not about you!
