When I apply for new positions at larger Corp companies, the only feedback I get back is my resume is too creative. But I’m applying for creative roles. How do I make me resume less creative ?

Is it so creative that someone can’t really follow what the project was, or what your role was? Sometimes stripping it down to be a bit more simple is better, show some personality but also don’t overcompensate so much that the work doesn’t have a chance to shine.

When you’re dealing with corporate, the simpler the resume, the better.

If a company is using an applicant tracking system then it may not be able to read your resume (when you’re applying) which may make it challenging for recruiters and hiring managers to find it in the system.

Keeping it simple makes it easy for both people and computers to read. Show your skills in your portfolio - most times creative recruiters barely skim the resume and aim focus on the portfolio.

I’ve been offered a position that I’m really excited about. Their initial offer was 10K more than the top of the salary range they gave me for the position when I asked during the interview process and at the top end of the salary requirements I set for myself. My partner thinks I should still negotiate for more even though I’m happy with the offer. Am I an idiot if I don’t negotiate in this case? Realistically, I don’t think I’d get much more than that, but should I negotiate out of principle?

Should I expect any specific questions during an introduction call with a recruiter? I have a call setup with a BSG recruiter and just wondering if I should prepare for any interview type questions?

Thanks in advance!

Usually I get asked about job referrals at Freshworks. Here's how it works. When an opening has lot of applicants and when we refer a person they are placed earlier in the queue for screening round. However the interviews and selection criterias are purely unbiased. All applicants are evaluated or shortlisted the same way.

Sometimes (not always) I feel like hiring managers get intimidated by me during interviews. I'm quite driven and have a big personality.

Genuinely curious, hiring managers - you ever not consider someone for fear they might outshine you?

Can someone please help me on this...

I am working in a support profile right now but I want to transition my career to data analysis. I am already learning MS Excel, Power BI, SQL. I have also started applying for jobs in LinkedIn and Naukri.

How much knowledge do I need to have to crack the interviews, also how can I shape my support profile resume for more suitable to data analyst profile?

Also which kind of companies I need to apply for, so that my chances of getting selection is more?

Just had the last interview of the second stage which consists of four 45mins interviews with different people. I got the feeling that the last interviewer wasn't focusing on what I was answering to him. No small talk in the beginning and he was slightly laughing where there's nothing to laugh about while I was doing my introduction. He also asked me the same questions (at least that's how I interpreted) and I had to repeat the same answer. Continue in the comments:

I keep taking calls with companies because I get some actually good offers on LinkedIn (I work in a growing area of health tech) but I have no intention of switching companies at the moment. I like to test the market. What is the proper time to stop interviewing? I don’t want to waste anyone’s time but I’m also obviously passively willing to chat and look around at opportunities

Hey, I am appearing for a pre-sales engineer interview. It will be a sort of role-play demo session, where the team will want to understand how I present, how I manage a room, how I keep my audience engaged and also your technical abilities when asked regarding the solution. I have a liberty to choose any data science related product. I am essentially confused as to what product to choose, and how to structure the presentation. I would highly appreciate tips and suggestions. Thanks

We will hold onto your application, and if a position opens that closely matches your skillset, we may contact you.

Okay so I’m a newly licensed attorney in a very conservative part of TX. I just got my first job offer and I was worried at first thinking that I was in “Trump” territory, but I tested the waters in my interview and spoke about police injustices and how prosecutor’s job is not only to protect victims, but also defendants from police injustices. I have to let them know by tomorrow, but thoughts on if this is a good career move for someone who wants to work in transactional work-RE or Bankruptcy?

Have virtual interviews tomorrow and Friday (both with same company) - I know 150% if I got an offer, I would not accept. Had a ton of coaching meetings this week regarding a different offer I’ve been considering and I don’t want to leave my current place of work. Cancel tomorrow and Friday interviews or no cancel and potentially get an offer and decline? (I am fairly busy so biggest opportunity cost is my time and having to wfh to do video interviews during the workday)
