When looking at firms (big or small) to potentially lateral to, how much credence should I give reviews made by employees/former employees on sites like Indeed or Glassdoor?

Trust the negative ones for sure, especially if there are themes. Firms can engineer positive reviews.

For midsize or small firms, I think there are always kernels of truth to those negative reviews, even if biased. Especially if there are common complaints. Would be less likely to extrapolate the negative reviews regarding a big firm, unless a review calls out a specific office or practice group.

like

Yeah, especially small firms and offices. If 1/3 partners or the head GC in a small office has a streak of bad reviews about them, I think it's safe to say they probably suck to deal with.

For big firm, I think you can really only gage based on things like policies.

Is there any advantage to telling a company you are interested in working for in the future where you decided to accept an offer from? Or does it not matter? I accepted an offer a week ago with a great company (Company A) that for this season in my life seems like a great fit and only strengthens what I have to offer company B down the road. Company B just sent me a request for interview and I want to keep the door open with Company B but they were just very late in extending an interview.

I've been interviewing with another company for about a month. The whole process has been 3 interviews over a months time. I have been in my current role over 6+ years (as HR mgr) and it's very transactional and not very strategic. The new company wants someone to lead a team from a senior level (HR Director) - what advice do you have for taking the next step in my career? I'm likely going to take the offer if it comes.

I work for a small agency and manage our internal marketing acct. We had very few processes in place when I started. I’ve since created, implemented, and trained our dept. on project mgmt for clients and am trying to convince the owner to apply those principles to our internal jobs. They are resistant because they just want the work to be done and don’t “want to keep spending money on internal jobs”. I’m confused because we’re doing the work either way and “spending” in labor/resources.
