When reviewing SAP proposals, most people focus on price and timeline. That’s not where risk lives. Risk lives in assumptions. Assumptions about data quality, business availability, decision speed, and change readiness. Every assumption is a dependency outside the vendor’s control. The more assumptions a proposal contains, the more fragile the plan is. Strong governance starts by challenging assumptions, not negotiating discounts.
