So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?

No. If someone goes out of their way to do that, they are hella petty and or bored.
Not just that, but kicking them while they’re down is borderline evil.
No, but there are a lot of people who do that. Mainly, because it’s easier to get a job when you are employed. I personally know several people who have done this, then correct their profile once they have a new job. I’m not saying this is right, but it is what it is.
LinkedIn is not a legally bound thing. You can post whatever you want.
Unless they were laid off due to performance issues, it’s fine to do that. Not hurting anyone and it’ll help the person. So who cares?
@OP the answer is no
Conversely, I knew someone who was at a job for 7 years or so and never put it on their LinkedIn. They kept it listed as freelance to keep getting side gigs.
Copywriter1, thanks. I know that. Hence why I mentioned it.
Once had a writer on my team get fired for poor performance...and not only keep her status as active at the agency I was at, but she gave herself a title raise.
Giving herself the life she always felt she deserved.
That’s why it’s a good idea to check references. People lie like crazy out there. I knew a guy (from tbwa coincidentally) who got canned for incompetence after just a few months and left his status as employed for at least six months longer.
I know at least 2 people who were canned for poor performance and have kept their titles on LinkedIn.
Why, Freelance 2?
It's unethical and deceiving but people do it all the time. After 12 months it's getting ridiculous. Anyway, do your homework on potential recruits because they're out there.
I know of a CD who was let go six years ago, but, according to his LinkedIn profile, he has held that same job for nine years. What is the etiquette? Who would be the one to tell him that’s not cool?
Did he retire maybe?
I’ve been let go and not changed my title/job, as I needed time to wrap my head around it and heal without notifying my LI network. That said, I was always honest when applying for jobs that I was no longer working there.
