I have the CSR and always decline rental insurance
When we were traveling, I rented a car every week. No one ever questioned or took a serious look at the condition of the car. Just don’t get into a major accident
Hertz doesn’t care. Unless you are giving it back to them with cinderblocks, doubt anyone will blink an eye
That said, document everything in Europe and Australia. Can’t speak to APAC. Africa, they are just happy the car came back 😂
I always take a video when I pick it up and when I drop it off. Never had any issues, but good to have just in case.
Take pictures of anything that would be an issue, making sure the picture includes proof that its in their space. Also if it big/bad enough i tell the attendant and they generally give you a form noting the damaged locations, i take a picture of that for my own records and provide the orginal to whomever i am returning it to.
No, never had an issue in the 8 years I’ve rented a car on a nearly weekly basis. Granted if I ever had a problem I may start but at the end of the day we are usually insured and I think I could handle the minor inconvenience...
I was renting a car every other week for over a year and never had any problems (using exclusively national rental), but I always just take a quick look and if anything major id take a quick photo. Only issue I ever ran into was one time a car only had 1/4 tank of gas, so just take a quick look at that when you start the car. Also I always declined insurance since I have a credit card that offers that benefit.
Depends on where I am. US? No way, nobody cares. Europe? Absolutely go over that thing with a fine tooth comb.
The major US companies are very lax about scratches, wheel rim damage, etc. I wouldn’t worry about. As others said, Europe can be a different story.
Use your company’s discount code. Insurance / damage waivers are probably included.
