I have never gotten any training. I read a lot of the subject (see picture for some examples). I also always try to emulate the things I appreciated from good managers I've had and to not do things the bad managers I've had did.
Mentor
There are some amazing books out there on this subject as well as courses. Bottom line:you are managing humans, meet each one where they are at, listen, learn, help them reach their goals. You will need apply many styles to reach the collective goal. Do that and the rest will fall in line.
Check out the coaching for leaders podcast. It’s pure gold.
The making of a manager by Julie Zhou is great and practical for first time managers. She’s from the product design/tech world so her examples are all from there, but even if that’s not you, there’s great lessons.
Currently listening to Carla A Harris Lead to Win with Spotify Premium and it’s got some great gems.
