Thoughts on unlimited vacation?
Hi All, My sister has done Computer Science engineering Bachelor degree and has 5 years of work experience in India. She is applying for MBA at https://www.kenan-flagler.unc.edu/programs/mba/full-time-mba/ and https://kelley.iu.edu/programs/full-time-mba/academics/majors-minors/marketing.html. Her overall goal is to get into Software Product management. Any suggestions if any of these MBA’s can open path in the desired space or if she is better of doing an MS in Comp engg. to further develop deeper Technology skills. Thanks

If someone in IB can find time to study for gmat, you can find time. Are you working Saturday and sunday? Push yourself
I’m curious, what’s a really good story? Stat wise and with the lower end of work experience puts you in line with T50 schools.
If you get a 700, you’ll have a decent shot at HSW with that story. (I went to S, and we had no one with your background in my class.) Good luck, OP. Keep inspiring.

You’ll be lucky to get a T30 school

I think if you get your GMAT to 680-710 range you can hit T15, at least T20.

Ok looks like it’s a serious question! OP, way I see it you won’t know till you try, like somebody above said. So I say fuggit. Throw on a pair of Nikes and Just Do It. (I recommend the Air Max 270s)
If you get in whatever reach school you set your sight on, you’ll have a great story to tell when you eventually write your autobiography. If you don’t get in, well at least you know for sure. Good luck!
Your lower GPA is explained by your story - ofc someone working 40 hours per week in college is not going to have as much time to study and achieve a higher GPA. HOWEVER—schools use both GPA and GMAT as an indicator of whether or not you’ll be able to handle the academic work (esp quant) once you’re in. So your low GMAT is really hurting you here: you don’t have proof that you can handle the work since both stats are low. I would advise taking the next 3-5 months to study and retake prior to R2. You can take 1 day PTO from work to actually sit for the test. If not, fake a sick day or take it online from home on a Saturday.
I appreciate this! Thanks for the note

Not being able to take time off work is no excuse for a low GMAT. Schools like to see you can balance work and GMAT prep.
Are you applying through GSAP?

Not to rehash what’s already been said but OP, you’re losing hope and you have a lot of time till R2 deadlines. Your story is solid but bust your ass to get a higher score, even in the 660+ range.
Two data points to anchor yourself. Do yourself a favor and check out the “ranges” of GMAT scores at top 30 programs. You’ll see that for elite programs, the lowest end of the range that they accept is typically 590+. But that should give you an indication that outliers are being accepted here - not for their scores but their stories and other elements of their candidacy and app.
Secondly, coming from a consulting background, you’ll be compared against other Deloitters and ex-consultants who will come in guns blazing with 730+ gmat scores.
Don’t lose hope but don’t let your foot off the gas pedal just yet. At the end, you can probably try getting in to a solid top 25 program with your existing scores so keep moving forward.
I really appreciate your comment! Thank you!
I’m planning to apply for R2. And currently taking GMAT Verbal lessons.
