There is literally nothing brave or worthwhile to what we do in this industry. We work for soulless corporations indebted to other even worse corporations, to do active harm on the environment and its inhabitants.
I feel there are different degrees of “bravery” in different contexts. Like of course firemen have to be physically and mentally brave to risk their lives, but someone who is a designer may make controversial work that could jeopardize their career. Just another case of people playing with semantics to make some “deep” point when in reality the topic is deeper than a surface level look at the word “bravery”.
Uh…ok

Try boldness instead of bravery. We get to be intentional, ambitious, distinctive: we don't climb ladders into smoke-filled buildings.
Nor are we supposed to…. It’s not how we contribute…..
You have to be brave to work in this industry. We may not be risking our lives, but firemen still have careers after they turn 40.

Don’t forget “JUST DO IT” is just as brave. It help educate and make 100,s of thousands of jobs around the world. It’s brave, words in there proper place move mountains…. AND MAKE JOBS AND LIVES….. Rrrr

I know there are studies and so forth about the order in which people read things.
I read “fuck off. Firemen” before anything else and I also misread the period for a comma.
When I finally read the whole thing I was a little bummed that this wasn’t a LinkedIn cringe post from and ad person actually telling firefighters to fuck off.
It’s good context and a reminder to not take ourselves too seriously but within advertising there is definitely bravery and cowardice, just look at your favorite and least favorite clients

Hell with Nils. Let’s talk about nil satis nisi optimum - nothing but the best.
Or, alis grave nil - nothing is heavy to those who have wings.
And, best of all, nil mortalibus ardui est - nothing is impossible for humankind.
You know, the debate about creative courage and whether it’s legit isn’t either new or productive. Don’t we want people to stand up for what they believe in? And, at times, doesn’t that take a measure of guts?
Of course we do. And, of course it does.
Nil disputandum est. There’s nothing to discuss.
Never saw a firefighter have the bravery to write a pun for a social post
