Who has the better gig (QOL, compensation, WLB), in terms of the “typical” role for each position- a trusts and estates partner in mid/big law or an in-house attorney with equivalent YOE?

I’ve been working for my State Farm agency as a team member for 2 years. I am licensed in property and casualty as well as life and health, but only make $13 an hour. I'm a brand new attorney (passed the Feb 2021 bar) who started an in-house counsel position a few months ago (where my focus is negotiating agreements for the sale of my company's software). I was a contracts manager on an in-house team for 4 years prior, which is why I was able to go straight in-house. I'm entirely skipping out on firm life, which feels both good and bad. Is there anything I should think about getting experience in? How should I go about making sure I am seeing enough things?

I’m a senior associate and received an offer to join a very profitable client as general counsel that would open lots of doors professionally and financially. Problem is I’m super burned out on law and was planning on quitting law firm in the next few weeks and doing something else with my life. Someone kick some sense into me before I decline the offer.

Outside counsel has been prepping company witnesses for a trial in August. It is my subject area so I am supervising outside counsel. I did not, however, choose the counsel. He is doing a really awful job. Co counsel is better, but not great either. Higher ups love the firm… I do not want to micromanage, but I have genuine concerns about outside counsel’s ability to try this case. Trials are rare, and I just don’t think these guys have actually tried many cases. Cont. below…
