I tend to overwork myself and it’s really taking a toll on my mental well-being. I want to learn a lot and prove myself to my superiors so that they recognize me/see value. Now my work has a sense of dread to it. I watched my parents be workaholics growing up, so it’s all I know. I’m also goal-oriented and driven, so achieving a lot scratches that itch for me. But, it’s making me want to quit cause I’m burned out and depressed….im not sure what to do. Any suggestions would be helpful.

I did a stint at a T&E firm, that is a freaking cake-walk. Not necessarily a better gig. Especially if your idea of good time is thinking on your feet and having tons of different, interesting matters happening. I prefer the in house diversity of matters. But man, if you are looking for the easy areas of law, i think T&E is up there. And yea, I know about the terrible behavior of families you will be exposed to… I count the DRAMA as a perk, soap opera style.
Thanks. I’ve heard that UHNW T&E can be interesting/technically challenging, which is more attractive to me (I’m looking for a predictable gig with decent hours but don’t want to get too bored). Sounds like your in-house role is awesome though, congrats.
