Why am I paycheck to paycheck? I work so hard in the restaurant and yet my bills keep piling up. Is there any side gig I can do to make a little extra income? Are you doing anything to get out of your financial hole?!

I'm convinced that paycheck to paycheck is just the way it's going to be. My problem is that even if I had some skill I could do on the side, I just wouldn't have the time to do it. I'm getting to the point where I have to get serious about making other plans, not so sure the restaurant business will be a good permanent place for me.

Restaurant biz is so hard. We aren’t paid well, long hours, and it’s such a struggle!!

I work FT and have a side gig and am STILL living paycheck to paycheck. I just don't get it. As for getting out of my financial hole, I try to live within my means. Eat at home, don't buy anything unless truly needed, and keep driving my car that's paid off instead of trading it in.

What’s your side gig? I honestly don’t get how I’m always paycheck to paycheck!!!

Looking for advice! I was approved to work remotely but my salary will decrease 10%. I received two raises so the decrease brings me down to my previous salary. I was told that it’s due to the cost of labor in the area.

I’ve been with my company for 8+ yrs, I love my manager and the work I do (engagement, recognition, & wellness programs) but I feel like I’m limiting myself since I have the experience, an HRM degree, and SHRM-CP credentials.

Should I apply for roles outside the company?

I work as an AGM in a busy restaurant. Been working there for just over a year, and haven't had a single raise. I now only make 0.50 cents more than even the lowest paid shift lead but I am doing a lot more work. I'm no longer satisfied with these conditions. Should I try to negotiate a raise or look for other opportunities?

If I should negotiate, any tips?

So I work as an assistant manager at a restaurant for the past 9 months. I've worked in restaurants for the past 6 years science I was 16. Now I'm 22. I went to a trade school for media and film. I got a dream opportunity to work in the field making about the same or 10% more. I told myself the only reason I'd leave this company is for this type of job. Should I take the chance at this job and leave the restaurant that is on the rise and growing?

Check the overtime laws for your state!!

I just recently worked 58.6 hours in a week, weekly pay, nice OT profit right? Depends on where you live.

In Iowa, there is no Overtime pay mandate, the overtime pay is at the discretion of the business. I received 58.6 hours of base pay for the week.

If the company makes less than $1 million per year or does not engage in intercontinental sales, the company is not required to pay the overtime rate of time and a half, just your base rate.
