Why do most organizations only match 3% to employee 401k’s? Wouldn’t it be more of a tax benefit for an organization to match more for their employees?

I’ve noticed with some healthcare companies they do not want to pay for a bilingual differential which is poor professional behavior in my opinion.

What would you prefer:

Job 1: 85k at small boutique firm (3 attorneys). Standard benefits but no 401k. Semi-annual raises. No billable hour requirement and regular 40 hour week. Being groomed to be a partner on a 2-3 year track.

Job 2: 135k at large regional firm (200 attorneys) good benefits. 1900 billable hours requirement. Partner track is 6-8 years but not guaranteed.
