Why do warehouse workers get paid so little?

The demand for warehouse labor is high, which allows employers to offer lower wages because there are many people willing to take the job. Also, warehouses are often operated by retailers or logistics companies that are focused on maintaining low costs in order to remain competitive. This can lead to pressure to keep labor costs low

Because it doesn't require highly technical skills. You don't need a degree to work in warehouses, depends on what specific kind of work is to be done. All you need is skills. Reason why many people are willing to take on the job.

Agree with LS1. It's literally supply and demand. A bit like the service industry but much more turnkey as a role and a lot more people applying. It's unfortunate; hence the need for unions.

This is we're you can really see the concept of supply and demand. Many essential occupations, like warehouse work, are easy to enter. That's why jobs with a large supply of potential workers are paid so little.

Just got back from reading an article about this. This one explanation definitely stood out. It's called the Diamond-Water Paradox. "The root of the paradox is this: Water is essential for all life, while diamonds are not. Yet diamonds are much more valuable than water, in the same way that an NBA star gets paid much more than a sanitation worker.". You can read it by opening this link I attached. https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2020/04/06/why-do-so-many-essential-workers-get-paid-so-little-heres-what-economists-have-say/

In my opinion, these occupations are easy to enter, and jobs with a large supply of potential workers are paid less. That's probably why.

It depends when and where. And, without that information, it’s hard to say.

It was very rare for workers to be forced to work for longer hours. Rather, long work time was often the cultural norm, i.e. you’re going to be working from sun-up to sun-down. It wasn’t always pleasant.

It depends on where you are. You'll get paid more if you have skills like operating a machine. But it is mainly because it doesn't really require highly technical skills.

I agree with the other comments. Warehouse workers get paid so little because they are not required to possess highly technical skills.

With so many VC firms coming up have you considered pivoting into the VC space? Wondering if the pay is good as compared to consulting. For context, I am a M making $170k base in the South East.

Should I instead focus on becoming a LP? Are these investor fund VCs worth the investment?
