GT unlimited PTO means no accrual payout and taking less vacation. Sucks. Pdubbers, I can only remember 1 instance of someone missing work because they were sick in the past 3 years. Is unlimited sick a thing people use ? (without people shit talking)
PwC only gets 3 when you start
Currently taking 3 straight weeks off
I'm taking three straight weeks off starting Monday. We get 3.5 weeks vacation and about 10 holiday days plus unlimited sick is wonderful. I think I used 60 hours last year?
PwC offers unlimited sick, while I believe Deloitte and KPMG build sick time into the 5 weeks.
In Deloitte almost everyone takes 2 weeks off during Christmas with 3 weeks remaining to spread throughout the rest of the year. Do ppl do that in Pwc or Ey? That would leave only 1 week to use for the rest of year... And I second Deloitte 1, barely have ever seen anyone taking pto due to sickness
I get 22 days of pto at EY and can buy more...I don't because I never successfully take the full 22 days. I'm a SM.
I'm taking off 4 weeks this summer
Because EY sucks...
With my five weeks I rarely use pto when sick. Just "work from home"
We get 18 days off with one day "floating holiday". Sick days built into those 18 days. But our work life balance is better than most firms from what I've seen on fishbowl.
GT has unlimited. :)
Do people at Deloitte actually use all their vacation time though? I use all my vacation or flex my time. I take sick days for doctors appointments and when I'm sick. No one feels guilty about taking sick days on my teams.
Som are in negative PTO territory for using more than the 5 weeks. Others bank it and get paid out when quitting. Personal preference.
From my experience, people will take around a week of PTO around Christmas and then spread the remaining two weeks over the rest of the year. EY also gets three personal days so you end up with 18 days of PTO
I'm taking all of December off before busy season starts
For the 2 weeks we take off during Christmas, a big chunk of it is firm holiday so I usually only end up using 2 or 3 of own vacation days.
I just came back from a 5 week off and have 3 more days left thAt I can take! #worklife
We all get two weeks off for Christmas, and people have taken plenty of time off. As long as you communicate with your team, no one cares. It's actually been pretty great so far.
A lot of the EY people I know use a lot of the extra hours they have charged (over 40) for when they take vacation so they don't have to use PTO. That's pretty sketch in my mind but hey... I guess if you can get away with it...
