As an ADC applying this summer for 2022 start, I haven’t gotten a chance to connect with any L.E.K. Consulting members and I really want to get to know the company better before moving on with my application. Any L.E.K. Consulting fish out there willing to spare a few minutes to chat about their work, the company, the culture etc? Thanks!

Because being in person drives accountability and collaboration in ways not achievable over zoom
It’s amazing how many fight we have to have about this everyday, when the clear right answer is hybrid work.
Apprenticeship is much easier and better in person. For many consultants, travel and being with other talented individuals is a big part of the value proposition

Travel can be done still, without the office, we’re currently in a remote model but some teams are traveling.

Here’s another data point for you OP, the 7 38 55 rule of Communication, which hypothesizes that only 7% of what we communicate consists of the literal content of the message. The use of one’s voice, such as tone, intonation and volume, take up 38% and as much as 55% of communication consists of body language.
So over zoom, camera on you get about 45% max communication potential versus being in person. If you are in a profession where communication is not a big part, it’s less of a big deal, for professions that are largely based in communication—like consulting—we need to be in person to get the full value of our interactions.
That’s another reasonwhy we have offices
Rising Star
Very true, I would come into the office occasionally because I enjoy the people I work with, but a mandatory in office requirement sucks.
Still need to have big offices for the show & wasting them sounds not right

Yeah because unfortunately people don’t know their worth. If the MBB and big banks were smart they’d slash all intern salaries and make it about an “experience” because at the end of the day they’d still be able to find suckers willing to work for free for the badge of approval.
Ignoring all the other answers here, I think it has more to do with the potential that clients will demand you be on site every day, even if leadership doesn’t care. Our leadership has gone to bat for me to stay remote when clients have requested I go on site and I’ve said I’m more productive at home.
