Is there a question…?

I don't think OP meant an MS from MIT. I think it's an MS in Management of IT.

The MS is redundant. You can get it to bolster your resume or help you get into better schools maybe but a top MBA should be goal #1. You're right the career lift from a top 20 is not insignificant so you should try to get it from one if you can.
Talk to the vet clubs at any school you're trying to get into. We'll help you out. Not that they can get you off the waitlist but most of them do what they can as far as prep goes.
For what it's worth, I was admitted off the waitlist last minute to my school (within 2 weeks of starting). It was worth it though for sure.
Caveat: You'll also have some extra GI to burn even after MBA so if that interests you probably not a bad option. Just depends on what you think will be a better use of your time if you're doing that full time - that vs working.
The vet clubs are not present for EMBA in the same way that they are for FT programs. The value prop is very difference.
Average age for EMBA is 38 and unless you have a business undergrad, lots of experience from TGT with plans to stay there; you’ll find it’s a different skill set, network, and recruiting opportunities.
If you plan to use formal MBA recruiting routes, then skipping the GMAT/GRE is a huge mistake, imo. If you’re Top 25 caliber, then there’s no reason why you can’t go M7 with some careful preparation. Contact service2school, get hooked up with an ambassador and reach further than just Darden,
Btw, your best odds are in Round 1 and 2. Less than 5% of the class gets in during Round 3 and they’re trying to shape it at that point. I’ve advised over 30 vets going into b-school and the successful Rd 3 app I’ve seen was from a guy who was top of his class at West Point with a 750 GMAT.
Depends on what you want to do. I did an EMBA at Darden first, but my résumé didn't have strong proof of technical skills, so I did a Master of Engineering program second. That is, by the way, the wrong order to do things in, but I didn't know I needed the second degree until I finished the MBA.
If you want to do something IT- or data-related to where both would be useful, do that one first (and it should make you more competitive for your MBA application). But if you are more interested in general management, just do the MBA.
The Darden EMBA is a great program. Good luck with getting off the waitlist!
This is good insight. Thank you
I’m not seeing the issue with being pigeon holed into tech. What’s your undergrad in?
Honestly, me personally if the MS IT is only a year long, do that first then get the MBA after. Hell maybe even at a better program too.
