Because of Ginny Rometty
Because unless you are there little ppl know what we are doing. Even IBMers are lost by the breath of highly specialized services we offer. We are certainly not selling only IBM products and definitely not in GBS. That’s more in the hands of our Global Markets division.
There’s bad apples everywhere and name another consultancy offering quantum computing consulting. That’s the level we’re at. Many people who left IBM did so for legit reasons but there’s a lot of great work that we do. We’re just not as good in advertising our client successes as we are in advertising Watson.
Also, GBS is not a traditional consulting model with equity stakes. We don’t offer our consultants champagne parties expensed on the project. There is no such freedom neither in benefits nor in staffing. I can imagine this is why we’re not seen as sexy. On the other hand, WLB is fairly good so no need to keep seducing me every day to stay in the machinery.
Agreed. There are good and bad teams as with anywhere imo. I really enjoy my practice and leadership and we are selling a lot of interesting work in the analytics space with great client feedback.
They don’t do “real”consulting IMO; just try to sell more IBM sevices.
Ibm1. Not bitter in the least; why would I be? I’ve made lots of money going in behind IBMGS and cleaning things up/(often times by transitioning services to a different third party) seems like a few peoplehere are getting confused between products and services-I’m talking about outsourcing services

From a former partner who switched to us apparently due to the size of the company every and all engagements were given a large amount of scrutiny from the IBM machine. Often lead to overselling and underdelivering due to budget pressure, I.e bid for a 30m piece of work at 20m do a shit job of it but hey it’s 20m which makes the machine happy
doesn’t this just burn the bridge with the customer? or how do you manage it so that they have low expectations?
What’s GBS?
It is not just managed services
