A couple where both people happen to be masc is fine, and has never been taboo in the LGBTQ community to my knowledge.
What I am aware of is that 5-10 years ago, terms like "masc for masc" were common on grindr and elsewhere, and usage of similar terms was generally underpinned by internalized homophobia. I'm not aware if this (or femme for femme) was an issue in lesbian spaces.
Nothing wrong with it IMO.
Don’t let others make you think you can’t have preferences.
It's a question of power dynamics, passing vs not, and exclusion. There's nothing wrong with liking certain features but to actively reject a whole group is where the problem is
Sorry: think my post was confusing.
To clarify: I’m a lesbian and lean more butch and normally go for very femme. I am very into a super masculine/butch person right now. And it’s throwing me and I think it’s some internalized shit.
Thank you

It’s a preference, unfortunately we cannot specify it anymore because some people feel attacked by it. So we silently reject people that don’t meet our preferences, no hard feelings.
I think the recent “woke” movement just made these preferences more internalized but nothing changed. People are still racists, prefer masculinity and super fit ppl. But they just pretend “everyone is beautiful”
Lol this isn’t what I’m asking about. And the gay male take on it this is kind of not relevant. I should have been more clear in my original post.
i have no idea why you think butch lesbians pairing off as couples is taboo. i feel like i’ve always seen it treated as completely normal.
