Wasn’t as easy to market for Jim Cramer to yell about.
Was joking but I guess it isn’t common knowledge as I thought it was. Jim Cramer created the acronym on his show to highlight growth tech, which at the time was primarily FANG.
Mentor
When the acronym was built Microsoft was not so hyped as today. And apple/ google were super hyped.
Microsoft is back on track now, but the acronym is already there...
FAANG all saw similar surges in their market cap and what they make up of the NASDAQ composite metrics.
Microsoft is more established and its growth has not been as rapid as FAANG.
Good question! Microsoft has been a big established company for a while (1980s) , that’s the only reason they aren’t designated as FAANG.
Fair point! Apples market capitalization though was super small at the time.
in the software world, it’s GAFAM or FAANGMULA
Salesforce has mediocre comp and mostly hires mediocre devs, not at all comparable to FAANG. Note that mediocre devs can still be very good, but just understand that they are not a FAANG-tier shop, just at Deloitte is not a McKinsey-tier consulting firm.
How about FMAGA
I think I like F-MAGA because it also perfectly represents those companies lol
Low key, wonder if someone at CNBC realized that internet trolls would end up calling it FAGMAN if Microsoft was included, and said “let’s just leave it out”
It is now GAFAM
I used to hear FAGMA in business school quite a bit. But that left out Netflix.
Comp is also a good bit lower than other tech companies
I propose a new acronym..
FAGAM
there is no Netflix because Netflix is not anything like the others
