Send an email blast to kind of soften the blow, but in your email, mention that you'd love to speak with them during their free time. This could be over the phone or via video call, etc. Don't diss your old company though! Just make sure they know it was a better opportunity for you and your family.
I can relate so much. Quitting can be so hard. It just shows that you are human and you love the people you work with.
Definitely just stress that you grew past the role you're in now but will use your experience for the next venture, hoping to stay in contact. It was an offer you couldn't refuse!
Trust me you're doing the right thing. You can't stay in a job where you're unhappy just because you're afraid of hurting your clients' feelings. They'll understand. And if they don't well then they're not the kind of clients you want to be working with anyway. Prioritize your own life.
