Please no judgement. Laid off this week, and also received a medical bill of $6500 for a July surgery. With 60 days left before we're expected to leave country, what happens if I don't pay the bills before leaving? It's a big %age of my savings and without a steady income and no benefits while unemployed, I don't want to pay.
So Uber layoffs have started. Uber subsidiary Careem to let go 31% of it’s staff. Sad state of affairs... https://blog.careem.com/en/securing-careem-through-these-uncertain-times/
Any updates on layoffs?
One of the primary aims of the criminal justice reform movement is to help ex-convicts re-enter the workforce by sealing criminal records, and making it more difficult for employers to judge applicants based on criminal history. The idea is that people are redeemable and capable of reform. Yet the same movement thoroughly enjoys getting people fired and publicly shaming them for making arguments they find “offensive”. A rapist is capable of reform, but not someone who makes a dumb tweet. Got it.
I hear severance is two weeks at Accenture. Anyway to negotiate that? No savings and a lot of loans at the moment.
My wife was informed a few weeks ago that she would be laid off as of end of year. She signed the paperwork and will be receiving a decent severance due to her tenure there. Now the company is saying they may have some other work for her to do for a few months and they could extend her contract if interested. If she says no, is she still eligible for her severance since she already signed her paperwork?
Is it appropriate to talk with your M and SM about your concern over layoffs? I want to talk to them about wanting to increase my workload and scope.
Can somebody please help this person stay off unemployment welfare? /s https://www.wsj.com/articles/parler-ceo-says-he-was-fired-by-conservative-political-donor-rebekah-mercer-11612397380
If you are fired from your job, can you still put in on your resume? Otherwise I’d imagine people would have some long ass gaps...
If you get fired from big law, how likely is a firm to be vindictive re recommendations etc
If anybody is impacted by the KPMG layoffs today let me know if you want to discuss new opportunities
When it comes down to it, is it true that the amount you are unassigned or if any of your teammates are unwilling to give you any work when asked is a good indicator of getting fired in the near futur
What are the details around the Deloitte layoffs? Any particular methodology to letting people go?
Been in consulting for three months and I now understand why you always see people on this app talking about being overwhelmed. I’m in my ramp up “apprentice period” and working awful hours and constantly thinking I’m going to be fired. I also understand the drug use 😂
Genuine question: why do people bill over 2100 in this market? I can see how wanting to be a “good associate” could get you to agree to go slightly above your hours requirement, but don’t understand how people end up billing 2500+ hours… do you really think you’d get fired if you said no to more work? Is someone legitimately forcing you to work that much? Don’t see how extra bonuses are worth it either.
Hearing stories of layoffs at Crowe Horwath. All in Risk and all senior level and above. Anybody here affected/know more?
An intern who sits near me keeps loudly burping....... really wanna tell her to stop. Do I do it?
Anyone gone through the skilled work visa process recently from Deloitte? How long did it take to get your CoS issued after filling out the questionnaire?
I’m considering making the change from a functional consultant role to a change management consultant role. I would maintain my certification but obviously lose out on a lot of configuration experience. Does that seem like a mistake for long term career growth and earning potential?
i know that agencies releasing diversity percentages is a step towards change. but fuck man. seeing agencies i admire, admit to atrocious numbers like 3% asian, 2% black, 4% latino makes me so sad
H1B transfer filed on Feb 4 with Vermont. Uscis site says they are processing cases from an year back. Need that transfer to get back to work. How long do you think I might have to wait?
For those who are enrolled in Day 1 Cpt schools, does your company reimburse you for the tuition? I am paying it myself right now.
The desks in our classrooms are currently being arranged by administrators to provide six foot spacing for students. A teacher asked if a safe area with the same spacing will be provided for the teacher to teach from and the response was a simple "no". Very concerning.
Started at a new company two months ago… everyone is nice but I feel like no one is actually friends with each other. At EY, people would just shoot the sh*t and send memes, and talk about things besides work, now it’s all accounting and Covid. How have you gotten closer to your coworkers and created a warmer environment?
My work friend told me their therapist said to them that they were the most antisocial and negative energy feeding client they ever had. I never want to be friends with this person because being evil aside, who has sufficiently poor judgment to share this with a work colleague? Am I being harsh?
Starting application process to FAANG and other tech firms. For those who have recruited, what’s the end-to-end timeframe? Trying to see when to start the process if my goal is to leave by end of October. I also will be able to get referrals from google, fb, and amazon, not sure if that speeds up the process . Thank you
Moving from big 4 tech implementation to boutique strategy firm for huge comp increase. Long term goal is mbb. Would this move help or hurt mba admissions and mbb recruitment?
Need help from mommas with experience flying with toddlers! My husband and I are agonizing over two options to fly with our 2.5 year old: A) 30 min drive to airport>>2 hour flight>>8 hour flight>>1 hour flight>>45 min drive to destination, or B) 5 hour drive to airport>>8 hour direct flight>>5 hour car drive to destination. This is our first flight with our daughter so we have no idea which option is the least worst 😅
PwC fishes, I have just been offered for a SM role in Advisory, Financial services. Can anyone tell me how often you will have to visit client offices and is it worth staying closer to airport instead of More London ? Or, is it feasible to commute from a place like Cambridge to offset expensive London home rentals! I have loads of questions but this is the top priority.
Can some share the benefits of working at BCG ? Apart from their insurance. Do they reimburse you for your phone bills like big4s
What are your benefits like if you need surgery at your company? Does your employer offer a Center of Excellence option for employees to reach better surgeons?
