Norway has one of the best environment for starting a business. Each kommune also offer a wide range of support to help you from refining business ideas to understanding the tax system. Reach out to the startup community is also a good place to start.
Hello there,
I live in Norway. It’s not that hard to start a business here. That said it depends a lot on the type and if you are a foreigner. And being a profitable business is tricky. If you live in the Oslo area we can grab a coffee and chat further if you are interested. There are lots of resources available that can help. And if you’ve been working you can get 1 year salary to start the business, so I wouldn’t call it a failure to try :)
If you want to start a business I would advice you to move to another country
That's rubbish. OECD ranks Norway quite high. It is easy to set up a business in Norway. This was highlighted in the ‘Ease of doing business 2020’ survey, where Norway is ranked sixth. In other words, Norway a very interesting country both for established companies and for start-ups.
You can get lots of help from places like NAV and they do regular classes on starting a business, the tax bits, etc.
Yes, the taxes are relatively high, but it's the total package that counts. Highly educated workforce, low friction, super efficient bureaucracy with tons of automation on the tax side, etc.
My wife started her own architectural office ten years ago and I started a start-up with some other guys and the amount of grants and loans we had from places like Innovasjon Norge is second to none, I would believe.
