I have had on and off ‘side hustles’ for a few years now. My biggest take away for myself is to be realistic with the time. The fact that a full time 40 hour job isn’t enough is ridiculous, but you do have to keep in mind which one comes first. Try to not commit to something that is going to take time you can’t realistically give, if that makes sense.

I did it for years. It was hard and both physically and mentally draining. I was working my main job 50-60 hours a week, a side reception job on Saturdays for another 6-8 hours plus delivering for grubhub when I had time and I still struggled. The depression was real and the weight gained was rough. I'm thankful I now I have a very well paying job and I don't need any extra work. It's turned my health around and my friends see a noticeable difference in my happiness. It's so sad that a lot of people can't earn a livable wage and that many others don't even care. As a single person I really felt it with not having a supplemental income to help out too.
I say go for it but pace yourself. I took on a side gig for admin support through Upwork, and while it helps with bills, I had to be careful not to burn out. I stick to flexible and short-term projects. That way I’m not tied down every evening.
