Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

Obviously strategizing here.
Thanks for any advice!
My understanding is generally the severance expense is booked in the year it is awarded - so the company accrues the full hit from an accounting standpoint on this years books, in full, even if hypothetically they are paying you several months into 2020. They’d generally prefer to do this in most scenarios. Vs a new year books having to take a hit.
But if any real accountants on here, correct me.
Just add: do you have a sense of how your agency is doing as far as making their profit numbers for the year?
If they’re doing really great or if they’re doing really bad they’ll likely want to take the expense in 2019.
If they’re just barely barely there and counting pennies to possibly make it, they’ll likely want to push the expense into next year.
Are you going to ask to be laid off? I did once. It didn’t work
