Hello Gang, I’m on the business side for Walmart right now. Walmart Global Tech recently offered me a role to move to the San Bruno office, but I’d be taking a demotion from L6 to E5. YOE: 8, COMP(200k base, 25% bonus, 100k RSU). Is this competitive in the bay? I have Doordash and Instacart in the pipeline, but no final offers yet.

Strategy& fish - i’m currently recruiting for org strategy. Ive talked to associates (in the healthcare practice) and theyve mentioned that it doesnt matter whether youre in corp strategy, org strategy, etc and that you’re pretty much pooled by industry when it comes to staffing.
Can someone confirm this? Also, what do you expect the restructuring to look like?
Anyone here who can refer me for internal project for dot net profile.

We would likely hire you as a senior associate and provide an accelerated path to promotion. I think it makes sense if you want to stay in consulting long term due to increased earnings.
You might take a slight drop in pay in year one (if you come in as Senior Associate) but when you hit promotion to Consultant it’ll go way up. I wouldn’t worry about the title. The brand carries more weight.
Though I hear Deloitte is harder to get into than Harvard...
OP, is that a typo? "If the title is worth it?"
My check book has never recognized my title.
People who chase titles are statistically underpaid 7 to 23% over their careers. APDKT.
1. This is common. We’re not comparing you to a new undergrad. We’re comparing you to PhDs and MBAs from top schools, many with 5-7 years work exp. Non-MBA masters just isn’t given much credence.
2. Even A1 would be a significant raise now. And trajectory much better (2x comp in 2 years).
3. Being a lateral is hard. It’s harder if you’re being compared to folks who have been here for 2-3 years already
OP, you seem really concerned about the likely one extra year you would have. One year is really not much when you think about lifetime earning potential and exit opportunities
Everyone has said but let me add perspective as a lateral - if you get the job and join you will be very grateful for the extra time to PL. BCG isn’t insulting you by recommending the Associate role. The rec is based on years of watching laterals come in hot and burn out fast. So much of how we work here is unique to the firm that even other consultants coming in need some time to adjust. There’s a *lot* to learn and you’re basically getting some extra time to do it.
PLs make close to 200k. Compare that to how much you would be making in 3 years in current role as opposed to your title and salary in first year.
What kind of masters degree? most of the non-MBA hires we bring on (ADCs) as consultants have a PHD or JD. And like I said, you will be on a different track than someone who comes in straight out of undergrad in terms of time. Probably just a policy to ensure when we hire laterals we give them enough time to be successful before getting into the project management role
Project Leader 1 but how do you compare someone with a Masters degree and 3+ years of experience with someone who has just graduated from an undergraduate degree? Makes no sense to me. Definitely want to make the jump but only if the title is worth it
Our SA pay is higher than 95k plus bonus (at least 10k base higher, and probably decent delta on the bonus)
Depends on your current comp and where you want to be, likely no since that’s a pretty big step back.
SC 1 i’m currently at 95K + bonus
KPMG1 Very hard for an associate to go Manager as opposed to C or SC. just saying.
As PL1 mentioned, I think if you look at the long term trajectory of your current SC role and the BCG role (even at the A level) is quite different.
