No. Why?
“A Florida man...”
What’s wrong with Florida? Well it has its own Wikipedia page, for starters: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florida_Man?wprov=sfti1
Winter Park, Windermere, or Winter Garden areas. Orlando is a town that’s economy is based on tourism, so heavily impacted by the economy so will go through ups and downs but the last few years has been growing a lot.

Best restaurants are here.
Buy in Tampa or Jacksonville - they both have everything Orlando has to offer plus beaches
Winter park is nice but expensive. You can get good value in the Conway area (15 mins to downtown and less than 15 mins to the airport).
Grew up in Florida and personally think there are better cities in the state. Unless of course you really really like the theme parks. What draws you to Orlando besides the article you read?
Thank you all for your inputs. Is Tampa a seller’s market? Can you recommend residential areas with good school districts? Budget is $400-500k. Is that a realistic number for new construction?
Yep. You will find a decent one.

I grew up in the area, great spot to raise a family but I bet values are through the roof.. the trade off
Tampa instead
Tampa is so much better; Orlando traffic is horrible, there’s no sea breeze, no beaches, and tons more tourists. Tampa is just ~1 hour away from Orlando if you need to pick people up from the airport (although the Tampa airport is pretty nice too).
I think only I have the credibility to answer this question as I’ve been living in Orlando the last 3 years and lived 28 years in south Florida .... My opinion is orlando is great to live but only in certain areas such as lake Mary, winter park, Oviedo, and lake Nona. Traffic is bad but better than most other areas In Florida. I feel Orlando is also better to live than south Florida as there are more job opportunities and better cost of living. However with that said I would rather live in Tampa because there is less crime, beaches are the best in the nation, less traffic, and lots of new construction especially for homes, same job opportunities, and you avoid bumping into the millions of tourists that go to Disney . Cost of living in Tampa is also really good and if you ever want to visit orlando it’s only 1.5 hours away and 3-4 hours to anywhere else in Florida.
From what I’ve seen Land O Lakes area is one of the better areas and it’s still only 20-30 miutes from downtown. Also Wesley Chapel is a good choice to
Odessa Land O Lakes are nice, you get quiet suburban/country living out there. The other option is South Tampa which is a lot pricier but right on top of downtown for what that’s worth. St. Petersburg is also growing really fast and right over the bridge.
I did consider Tampa but taking international flights into consideration as well. We have family visiting us every year from India and vice versa.
Pro
Tampa is only 90 min from Orlando. You can still use the Orlando airport for international travel and Tampa for domestic.

I would not, simply because my wife is a teacher and teacher pay in Florida is horrifically low. Besides that, no problems with Orlando, Tampa, or Jacksonville.

What are some good areas in Tampa (close to golf and beach)? Wife and I are looking to buy something now for her parents to move to in 5 years when they retire. Something we can rent/Airbnb for a few years. What are some good areas? We have been looking at Scottsdale but literally everyone we know keeps saying Tampa.
