Hi there, I’ve been told that Deloitte (London, UK) is going to make me an offer but haven’t heard back and it’s been over two weeks. The recruiter mentioned it would be around the “m2 grade”. Any idea what this pay range is? … I have 3 YOE working in NHS finance and have applied for a position in Risk Advisory, public sector. Curious what life at Deloitte is like? Does a work life balance exist?

If I start searching for new job, will that HR ask about recent offer letter? Or only salary slips are enough?

I don’t thing FAANG companies actually compete with Big 4 or MBB, pay is higher at FANNG companies and they have better WLB but it is not easy to get in, I apply to Google every year and each year I’m getting closer to get an offer but it’s way more difficult to get an offer from FAANG and other tech companies than MBB for example.
@m2 It's not a necessity but certainly helps to get your foot in the door at the more junior levels.
Beyond the first few years of a career though, the work experience and network will be far greater factors in being able to get the interview.
The major is especially significant because of the potential for stereotyping and pigeonholing. This is what I was trying to highlight - tech firms are recruiting for different skillsets and backgrounds than consulting firms. If you look at the number of FAANG employees vs MBB, the latter would appear more exclusive.
If you want to stick with project management or tech, definitely go Google. If you want to explore industries / functions, go Deloitte.
Normally this wouldn’t even be a question...it’s google... I’m just not in love with a project manager role but I’m sure things can be flexible based on what they said
For me, I’ve been helping launch new programs and ensuring we have the appropriate tech setup to support the data we need to continue doing business. For example, business wants to launch a new program, then the tech team needs to know how it impacts the backend systems, then I need to relay business requirements to tech team to ensure we have appropriate data and system setup.
It’s a good spot to be in since you learn the business and tech side.
It is feasible to move around internally. I'd say take the offer, kill it, and keep your eye out for other roles you might be interested in.
Worst case, you boomerang back to consulting, lthough I have no doubt you'll be able to find a new role internally.
