Would you rather take a role with high current comp but limited upside, or slightly lower pay with stronger long-term trajectory? Feels like one of the harder decisions once you’re mid-career.

What do you think is the likelihood of things breaking in a way that you’ll hit that better trajectory? How much is within your control?

If good amounts on both, I think that would make me take a chance on myself

Go for the high current comp. Anything can happen in the future. Invest the excess and build wealth.

Honestly, I'll always choose the long-term stability & my personal peace over higher immediate pay. And any pay range in accounting is leagues better than what I get on PWD, so it'll never be a down side.

I've been exploring exit opportunities for a few months and still holding out for the right opportunity. However, I've had A LOT of recruiters reach out to me for positions that are way below my current salary. They do the whole "your background and expertise is exactly what we're looking for" then turn around and offer a salary range that is 20k below my current level. My resume clearly says I've got 10yrs experience and an MBA. I **don't think* I should be getting offers of 80k-100k

Could someone please suggest how to handle this situation?
My manager (Technology Director) sees me as an emerging thread to his position and stopped sharing details / trying to avoid including me in visible projects etc.,
FYI - His manager is the division head and Managing Director.
Why I think my manager tries to move me out?
- I am 18 YOE with a technically strong background
- Upper mgmt is starting to identify me as the backup for all systems. My manager tries to move me out since then

Been a coach at the collegiate level for 6 years. Make a $65k salary. Want to leave coaching and break into sales/marketing/recruiting/consulting. I have ample leadership and recruiting experience with a strong work ethic.

I’m assuming I’m going to have to take a pay cut and start toward bottom of totem pole. Any recommendations/advice on roles to apply for since I’m new to the field? Would like to be in tech if possible in Charlotte, NC or remote.

I’ve been offered a reporting consultant job for less than 60k and I bring 9+ years of experience to the role. They should be offering more. I don’t want to settle but I don’t want to miss an opportunity to move. Reporting consultants should start at $65k per recruiting sites. Any advice? How can I get HR/recruiters to offer more? TIA
