I’d prefer a smaller car for my commute but nothing wrong w driving a van I s’pose
Rising Star
And to keep the police guessing
Where’s your office? Seattle or SF? No issue. I know leadership in those markets that would rock clean Vans. NYC? Probably not so much. I’m assuming you’re in the US but the culture is very different depending on where you’re at. I’m west coast and super laid back. So long as your vans are clean and you’re put together I couldn’t care less.
Come to the west coast. I’m a senior manager and couldn’t care less if you wear vans and say ya. But if you stay in the Midwest, you might get more judgement.
No but people wear them anyway
Depends on the state of them and what you’re wearing them with. I live in a laid back area but rock vans pretty frequently.
I know this guy!
Not if you want to be taken seriously
It depends. Typical accountant answer. Dress for the day. If you are client facing with bankers or attorneys that are in suits, Vans are probably not appropriate. However, if the client is casual, then I think vans are fine as long as they are clean and not blown out from doing a bunch of ollies or kick flips… It would also depend on how you incorporate your shoes into your outfit. For example cargo shorts and vans most likely not appropriate.
Agree! Firstly, check your office dresscode. If your office is okay with sneaker - I would stick to plain white, eventually some minimal design (blue line) or something like that, but majority white. Second, remember that this dresscode doesn’t apply to situations with clients. To anything client related I would stick to the rule - suits and ties, no sneakers! Better to overdress than underdress.
I don’t think many people would care as long as you don’t wear flip flops
I say yes— but circumstantial. I think if it’s a tie shoe style; and you have a summery look, you can totally pull off the whitewall sneaker, just has to be coordinated correctly. In the summer and at office, yes, but not at the client obviously.
Usually with a shirt and tie
Depends on culture.
In Texas people wear cowboy boots. 🤷🏻♀️
I don’t think vans classify as running sneakers so …
I guess by this person comment ^ only leather shoes.
If you asked me five plus years ago I would have said a firm no. But now I could care less.
Couldn’t care less
Personally they kill my feet so no for me but I am in NYC 30 rock office and a lot of people wear it and no one cares (including PPMDs)
Got to try the skate variety, they’ve got pretty good insoles
I dont think people care if your outfit looks neat and somewhat business casual. I wear sneakers all the time and so do others in my office.
Depends if you work with customers or not. If it’s casual dress then what’s the problem? Get your work done and go home
