Hi there, I’ve been told that Deloitte (London, UK) is going to make me an offer but haven’t heard back and it’s been over two weeks. The recruiter mentioned it would be around the “m2 grade”. Any idea what this pay range is? … I have 3 YOE working in NHS finance and have applied for a position in Risk Advisory, public sector. Curious what life at Deloitte is like? Does a work life balance exist?

Side projects that prove (to you and to future employers) that you still work on developing those hard skills
(1) Clearly understand the skills stack of your desired target role and start accumulating micro creds
(2) Immediately deliver mini projects that demonstrate application of the newly acquired skills though proof of work
(3) Build a verifiable portfolio of credible mini / side projects and present it in easily accessible formats - websites, applications, interactive visualisations. Be creative (NFTs 🙂).
If you can persistently do the above for c. 12-18 months you can walk into any company of your choice. You’ll be among top 1 percentile of employable candidates going around (not kidding).
All the best!

Thanks for the advice, really helpful to see the steps noted down.
I think one of my issues is my target (moving into something technical e.g. embedded systems, product development) is so detached from operations transformation consulting and the barrier to entry feels so high unless I go back to university (which I can’t afford) and restart the ladder again.
What specifically are the hard skills you feel you have lost?
