I don’t know the other firms well so I can’t comment on comparison but I’ll give you my thoughts on ZS.
Pros:
- we have a good brand in life sciences and do some interesting work in the space
- it’s a low travel model for the most part so you work/life balance is usually decent (some exceptions based on teams/clients)
- people are pretty nice, feels like a less douchey culture than some consulting firms
- no strict up or out
Cons:
- minimum 3 years to next level. Like you’re not even eligible before 3 years, and most take 4+. Might be different if you’re an experienced hire but in general promotions are slow here
- manager is the hardest role at the firm, in my opinion (very possibly biased though)
- coming in from the outside is tough. The onboarding here is not the best for non-campus hires
Why do you think manager is the hardest role?
Making MD at Accenture is all about sponsorship. Those who have been ordained will make MD. I know that’s part of the game everywhere, but at Accenture it’s that way times ten
So make sure you’re coming in with the expectation of building sponsorship with the people in position to promote you.
