Hi, new hr manager here. I have a bit of a situation at work lol an attorney has been making insensitive comments to our support staff, is generally distracting and over sociable and I’ve gotten some neg feedback about him. I spoke with him this morning and this afternoon, he went up to his legal assistant with the Amber Heard filter on Snap, started asking her what was wrong, she didn’t like being filmed, was upsetand ended up working from home the rest of the day. I’m not sure how to move fwd…
Curious of opinions- do you think being an generalist AE or specialist AE is more lucrative? Know that this can vary by company (Salesforce, Twilio, etc) any insight is appreciated
I am in sixth year at a top firm in Toronto. I’m considering lateraling to another firm that does very similar work to what I’m currently doing, essentially because I strongly dislike the culture at my current firm. If you have lateraled for a culture-related issue, what do you wish you had asked before signing? Do you think there is a way to truly suss out culture before working somewhere? I have several law school classmates at this new firm so will obv ask them.
I'm at the final stage (offer very likely) for a role with a publicly listed tech company.
They are offering stock as part of my package. Should I be pushing for more stock or a better base and less stock?
Pivot ideas for an ID partner (non-equity) who is just over it? I don’t want to be at another firm doing the same thing but just with/for different people. I also feel like it’s too late in my career to start over in a new practice area. And lastly, I can’t take a pay cut. Any good next step you’ve taken/seen someone take out of here?
How long do you think you need to have worked in biglaw to have proven you can really do it? (“It” being the insane pace and maybe distantly have the hard and soft skills to be a biglaw attorney)?

Anyone have any insight into the tc at JPMC for a Senior Associate Recruiter for the legal portfolio? Thanks!
Hi anyone here working in tech sales, trying to pivot to Aws AAE positions/ entry level sales wondering if anyone has any advice?
Ok I have an interview tomorrow and like to be prepared so I have a notebook where I’ve written relevant experiences and accomplishments. Would it look unprofessional to being my notes and reference them doing the interview? I can get so nervous and lose my train of thought so I just feel this will help keep my answers on track and focused on relevant information.
I'm wondering if anyone has implemented a performance management system where individuals are positioned to their strengths and evaluated and rewarded for them as opposed to a system that encourages employees to stretch across multiple areas and then ding them for weaknesses.
For example, current system expects client service, talent management and sales. If you don't sell, then you're not as good as someone who does all 3. But what if your strength is talent and we could leverage that.
If an employee in CA is eligible for paid FMLA leave but does not get paid for a 10 day leave- where can the employee go to try to recover that amount. Is there a government agency that can help?
Is it too much to reach out to my firm’s womens initiative and ask if the firm or womens initiative plans to make a statement about yesterdays decision?
I got in trouble last night and getting really passive aggressive emails all morning about various things I'm getting annoyed. It's like convert this to a pdf for me it's a 200 page graphic heavy doc so takes a few min. Then 9 min later why don't I have it yet. I'm like I just sent it. It takes a few minutes for it to convert.
Has anyone bought/ done the HRCI Certificate in Diversity and Inclusion in HR Management? I already have my PHR, but I’m looking to gain more knowledge/skills and beef up my resume. Is it worth doing? The course is $239 and you get 12 Recert credits with it.
Is there any easy way to bill for emails? At the end of each month I spend way too much time trying to collect the 0.1s from the month. I go day by day with my emails, sent then received. It’s so boring and time consuming but I have never known an easier way (aside from entering emails daily, but I find that doesn’t work either because if you get multiple emails on a case in a day, you’d have to keep editing the entry.) F billable hours
Is there anything wrong with searching through the dockets for a template for a type of motion you’ve never written before? Obviously the facts and argument will be different, but the legal standard section could very well be nearly-identical. I’d switch words and cases around as well—just trying to get a sense if this is frowned upon in any way

Ok fellow fishies…got a question. An applicant for an entry level job I’m trying to fill has no resume, and needs help putting one together. In another life I used to do that, for $$. I’ve offered to help him out but would it be ethical to charge him for it? He did respond to a company job post & I’m communicating with him over the company wires, but if I transfer that to my business email would that be appropriate? Btw I’ve never trolled for clientele at any time when I was under contract.

I'm at a cross road, what should I expect to be making as a refrigeration operator with 5 years experience? I understand variables can change it but I'd be interested in a range for reference. The internet has such a wide range it's not helpful at all. TIA
On Parents and curriculum “…It’s absurd for parents to tell teachers what to teach,” said Diane Ravitch, an education historian and advocate for public schools. “The result would be chaos, and in most cases would be parents telling teachers to teach the way they were taught decades earlier.” What’s more, she said, “It thoroughly discredits the teacher’s professionalism and expertise,” adding: “I can’t think of a more effective way to demoralize teachers and drive them out of the classroom…”
My partner won’t stop undercutting me and taking every chance to make me look bad in front of our boss. They leave me out of meetings, insult my work, and has stolen credit for my work. Cont’d.

Fiancé and I are thinking about taking our honeymoon in South Africa. Any thoughts, suggestions, or tips from the glumoja??
I’m thinking about turning in my 2 weeks notice at the firm that I’ve worked at 10 years this week. No raise, no bonus, was told that partner track was delayed a few years for a variety of non performance reasons. I met all sales and other goals. I have another job offer I’d like to take from another firm. I ordinarily wouldn’t quit during busy season but this year busy season is literally January 2 - October 15. Thoughts?
Any suggestions on free resources to improve writing and editing? I'm not talking about "legal" writing and IRAC. Instead, I'm looking for courses on how to say more with less, find the write tone/voice, and how to improve proofreading/editing skills? If not free, something for the price of a book which I won't have time to read?
