Hey guys, happy Monday. Good news. My time sheet for this week is at almost 30 hours already. My utilization will bring great honor to my firm. So stoked. Seriously so happy..... Lolz nah imma quit.
What have been the differentiators for the career coaches that have helped you the most in your firm, What have been some of their best traits?
Curious to get thoughts on most likely outcome to wealth in accounting.
Overall, does industry or public accounting offer a more probable path to wealth?
Acknowledging that making partner is not probable for most people, it is also not probable that you’ll win the equity lottery in industry.
Overall, where will the average person make the most money?
I’ve done both now and I’m torn. My equity in industry is adding up, but not sure it would beat comp long term in even an MD role in public.
Anyone willing to share some best resources (books, podcasts, etc) for imposture syndrome? For awareness, I am a white women in HR. Always struggled with confidence but experienced some brutal/toxic management with my HR role with a bad business partner (now in a new role), and I am continuing to struggle with my confidence. Appreciate resources that are “self-help”. Also considering a therapist but hoping to also own the process myself for quicker “recovery”. TIA!
Thoughts on PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP certs? I have approximately 9 years of HR exp and my bachelors and MBA. Been debating on whether or not I need to fulfill my urge to get a certification. Wanted to get some thoughts around whether you have a similar background and opted to or opted to not get their certification? Thanks!
Hey! Is there any hiring managers looking for HR / Talent Acquisition candidates. I have a MBA in HRM, 2 years experience within HR, was on track to become an HRBP at Amazon but chose to go into to Talent Acquisition due to a toxic work environment. I’m looking for a new role and would to speak with someone regarding new opportunities or even to discuss some pointer on how to pivot into a new role!
Is there any resources someone can point me to about the potential legal issues and more information from an HR perspective about contingent employees (temps, contract workers, part-time workers) versus normal FTE’s?
I’m working on a project for an HR class and finding good sources with real evidence about this from SHRM and news publications has been rough. Thanks!
Anyone know when PwC and KPMG pay raise are? Is it august like EY?
Hoping Deloitte’s pay raise makes waves to the rest lol
Is anybody else having a really difficult time hiring for employees to work in the office full-time? My boss is against working remotely or offering a hybrid option. I’ve never had such a hard time filling roles. This includes finding a new in-house recruiter.
How do you handle a toxic leader in dictatorship environment? A leader that cannot take feedback, but instead manipulate you and yell at you for not “knowing your audience”. Oh and the company is owned by himself and his wife.
Does PwC have a global ethics hotline, not a regional one? I need to consult on a certain situation where I'm very conflicted.
I am struggling with the fact that I have 13 years of HR experience in one capacity or another, along with a bachelors degree and my PHR designation yet companies say “I’m not qualified or they ghost me when I apply for HR openings. I am experienced in all aspects of HR. How are people with little to no experience coming right out of college obtaining higher level roles than I have currently? It makes my passion for the field just go away.
If you were given a chance to change one decision you made in your life career-wise, what is it and why?
I have been with my company 20+ years. This past year they did a sales market restructure - directions from new upper management. The restructure has been less than favorable toward my commission goals. The coming years don’t look promising. There are sales people making $$$ only here 1-2 years because they were given all my opportunities. It is hard to leave this company - it has been great until now with the changes. I have a very strong job offer elsewhere - but worried about non compete.
Which stock should I invest for long term? What% of my $ should I invest in? My $ is sitting in my saving acct with 1% int. I think I should invest but not sure what.
I’d like to be prepared for the initial phone screen convo, which will only last 20-30 minutes. The JD shows the salary range as 110-130(USD) commensurate with experience, but I’m happy to land anywhere in that range—yet I don’t think it’s good to disclose that. How can I tactfully still talk to the recruiter about landing closer to 130? Not trying to be greedy, but certainly aiming high!
Where do you ladies find good wall art pieces?
My husband is coming to visit me next month and it’s ice cold. Suggestions on activities / entertainment around downtown Toronto for a young couple ( we are in a long distance marriage for a few months )
We all know takes a special kind of person to work in public accounting, it takes an even more special of a person to stay in public accounting knowing they could go else where get paid more & do les
Would you stay within a business that offers a great pay, benefits, 100% tuition reimbursement but the job was mindless where professional growth lacks… or would you find another job offering professional growth but not that great of benefits?
Does anyone have a strong Islamic finance contact? I have questions about things like if leveraged ETFs are halal and margin trading with no interest (Robinhood). Need someone knowledgeable
Help! I will be starting a new full time job soon and I will still be working as a freelancer for 5 hours a week at my my previous employee that I quit to help with events. I don’t think it’s worth telling either party what I am doing because it is so small… how do I represent myself on LinkedIn? Should I just get rid of LinkedIn all together? I want to avoid colleagues posting event pictures and tagging me as well… I feel like I need to fully represent my new full time job.
Is it true that the best way to increase your salary is to switch employers every 3 years? I have been with the same company 3 years and have seen people hired after me hired making almost as much as I do (hired to my previous position, but still in my department) even after I was promoted! I was thankful for my increase with my promotion when it happened in March, but now I’m realizing that I’m only making $1 more than two of my successors, who apparently were hired on at higher rates than me!
7B band in IBM for 7.8 years of exp . How is job security in this case ? Is it like they will expect as architect level ? I dont have any experience like that . I have worked as a developer . Please suggest .
Adenomyosis treatment: I started on letrozole+norethindrone, then another RE at the clinic recommended Lupron depo as the “gold standard”. Issue is it would push back the FET by another 3 months and we’ve been trying for 2 years (I’m 38). Can’t find a ton of research on this, but a couple small studies seem to conclude no significant difference between the two treatments. Any advice/experience with this?
Is any woman on here 40+ in NYC, have an “intimidating” job, and doesn’t have a problem dating good, attractive men? Teach me?
Trying to take a break
Anyone out there in ExxonMobil I have an interview for Planning Analyst. What kinds of questions can I expect? In JD nothing specific was mentioned. Also, I have an interview with Kantar, for Senior Analyst, what to expect here?
Any suggestions for ExxonMobil would be highly appreciated.
